Biography

David K Frampton first started as a musician in the commercial sense recording some of Greedy Fingers second 1996 EP 'Spanish Harry'. The following year David and a Croydon suburbs collective founded the label Process Records that released material by Mare Nubium, Truck Pitch, Cutterblade, Disco Ducks, Al Waxman, Mudlark and Skein amongst many others. It was a fairly cult affair with some seriously sonic gigs. The label caught the ear of David Holmes, Radiohead, Autechre and Andrew Wetherall, who at his East London basement studio at the Haywire premises exclaimed DKF's music was like 'suffering from tinnitus and listening to Motor head.' After 2003 when the label closed David took an underground furrow and fell full speed into producing music and the art of d.i.y setting up My Initials Records and then the current Eyeless to document his and his friends output. Around the same time David took a Learning Support Role for Oxford City Council community education supporting a group of adults with learning difficulties through a music performance and production course over 3 years at the Ark T centre in Cowley. In 2007 David took an MA in Sonic Art under composer Paul Whitty who helped steer him further towards possibilities of music in a social context. Concentrating on research, development and creative strategies, the course helped David to get outside the box and think about connecting with an audience through experience based rather product based (i.e.CDs and LPs) means. Upon moving to Brighton he worked for 6 months with Music Charity 'Rhythmix' as a project assistant. This experience opened his eyes to the positive future he envisioned at the MA but in a more grounded context. After he left he started the Certificate in Music Workshop Skills course at Goldsmiths where he is gradually honing his skills and abilities to lead workshops and create projects in the future. Part of David's life is also his label Eyeless which have over 50 releases in various underground formats such as  CDRs, Cassette and DLD. He continues to perform in Brighton, most recently as a duo with the cello player Bela Emerson and at his regular nights down at the Bonbanes Cafe in Brighton.
